There’s no doubt about it, when it comes to comfort food, nothing quite fills us up like a good ol’ pie! And Marks and Spencer have just released the pie of all pies - in spirit of National Pie Week.
Kicking off the celebratory week in style, they have created the ultimate pie! May we introduce you to the exclusive, and unique Gastropub Steak and Chips Pie!
Made with two-hour, slow cooked braised cuts of British beef in a rich ale gravy, with a layer of smoky tomato chutney, encased in an all-butter pastry base - and topped with cheesy chips! It’s a supermarket first, and guaranteed to blow the doors off any dinner at home!
Our stomach is rumbling already… Best of all? It’s just £5!
Now the pie is available in Marks and Spencer stores now for just £5. To find your nearest, we’ve popped the store locator here for ease. You can also get a range of Gastropub goodies and more from M&S over at Ocado too! Best of all? They’ll be delivered directly to your door.
The M&S Gastropub brand is Marks and Spencer's best-selling range of freshly-prepared meals. M&S pride themselves on keeping the menu exciting and innovative for customers year after year. And fresh for 2022, they’ve revamped the whole range, improved recipes and ingredients - plus they’ve also added five, exciting new dishes - including this mouthwateringly good pie.
Some of the other dishes that have caught our eye include the Gastropub Mac’N’Cheese Balls! They make for the perfect starter or side to any indulgent meal at home.
Made with a mouth-watering combination of cheddar, pecorino and mozzarella cheeses, encased in a parsley crumb and served with a smoky chipotle ketchup - hello! And they’re just £4.
Sticking with the cheese theme, there’s also the delicious-sounding Cheese Rarebit and Ham Crumpets, £4. They sound perfect as a starter or snack! Think sourdough crumpets hand-finished with Barber’s mature cheddar cheese, and beer-glazed outdoor bred Wiltshire ham.
If you’re catering for any vegetarian’s at the next dinner party, why not opt for the Chestnut and Shiitake Mushroom Open Pie. It’s all-butter pastry prepared over three days for a crisp golden finish, with silky parsnip puree and topped with miso butter and garlic crumb - and priced at £7.
Another M&S supermarket first and fresh from the 80s is the French-inspired Chicken Forrestier dish, £10. It’s made with British chicken breast and paired with whole baby chestnut mushrooms, onion petals and outdoor bred British bacon for a comforting, classic flavour combination. Served in a creamy white wine sauce, enriched with porcini mushrooms, mushroom stock, shallots and thyme. You can’t beat a classic, right?
For those that like a little spice at dinner time, why not try the Gastropub Paella, £10. Made with braised rice delicately infused with saffron, pimento pepper & cayenne. Topped with slices of British chicken thigh, chargrilled with garlic, lemon, paprika, and rosemary. As well as chorizo sourced from the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees. Finally, topped off with responsibly sourced King Prawns and chargrilled piquillo peppers.
You’ll find the majority of these amazing new Gastropub menu items within M&S’s Dine In deal section, and the ‘serves one’ options will be sitting alongside the rest of the pies and freshly prepared meals.
The brand new packaging also includes serving suggestions for each dish with wine and drinks pairing options too – so you’ll never be in doubt as to how to get maximum enjoyment from the meal you select!
