Marks and Spencer, John Lewis and major British retailers pay tribute to The Queen

Major British retailers including John Lewis, River Island, Home Bargains and Sainsbury's have all shared their tributes on social media after the death of The Queen.

Buckingham Palace confirmed last night that Queen Elizabeth had died at Balmoral. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow. "

Since the news, many popular British retailers have been sharing their heartfelt tributes to The Queen via social media on Twitter and Instagram. Liverpool ONE also shared their tributes to The Queen on Twitter.

The tweet read: "Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II (1926 to 2022) The entire Liverpool ONE community is saddened by The Queen’s death and our thoughts are with The King, The Queen Consort and the Royal Family."

Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer shared tributes to Twitter and Instagram paying their respects to The Queen. The British retailer celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee just four months ago with a range of limited edition items.

Their Facebook post read: "We're deeply saddened to hear the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. For over 70 years she has dedicated her life to service for her country and the Commonwealth, and been a figurehead of national unity and stability at a time of enormous change.

She has led at all times with a quiet determination and selfless devotion, and has been all that is the very best in us. While being Monarch she has raised a loving family whom she adored, and they her. As HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh was to her, she has been our nation’s strength and stay.

We join the Royal Family and the nation in their grief and offer the Royal Family our heartfelt condolences. Your M&S Family" Hundreds of M&S shoppers shared their tributes in the comment section expressing their sadness.

John Lewis

Also sharing tributes on Twitter and Facebook was John Lewis, another retailer loved by Brits. Their post on Facebook read: "We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen. She faithfully served the nation as our Sovereign during her long, happy and glorious reign. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to The Royal Family."

Debenhams

Sharing their respects on Facebook, Debenhams post read: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. We extend our heartfelt condolences to The Royal Family, as we join the Nation in mourning, and give thanks to Her Majesty for her lifelong service to our country and the Commonwealth."

Sainsbury's

The bright orange Sainsbury's logo is now black, to pay respect to The Queen and the Royal Family after her death. Their tribute on Facebook read: "We are very sorry to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

She was a truly remarkable woman and an inspiration to so many people, all over the world. Some of our colleagues had the honour of hosting her at Sainsbury’s 150th birthday celebrations and we were so grateful to her for the time she took to celebrate with them.

We thank her for her extraordinary decades of service to our country and our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Her Majesty’s family at this difficult time."

Boots

The bold Boots logo has also been replaced to black on social media. Their post read: "We are deeply saddened that Her Majesty the Queen has passed away and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time. As we join the nation in mourning, we pay tribute to the contribution Her Majesty has made around the world through decades of public service."

Home Bargains

Liverpool retailer Home Bargains changed its bold logo to black and shared an image of The Queen with a tribute. It read: "We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen. For over 70 years she served our country and Commonwealth with grace and selfless devotion. On behalf of Home Bargains we send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time."

Popular retailer Next shared a poignant tribute to its Facebook page with a black background. It read: "As we offer our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, we reflect with gratitude and admiration on an extraordinary lifetime of service."

River Island

High street fashion retailer River Island shared their tributes on Facebook to pay their respects to Her Majesty. River Island also changed their logo to black instead of white in respect.

Their Facebook post read: "All of us here at River Island are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As an iconic figure in our culture across generations, and a symbol of strength and resilience in changing times, she will be missed by us all."

New Look

New Look shared a tribute on Facebook and changed their timeline image to black. Their post read: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

We’re grateful to Her Majesty for her service to Great Britain and the Commonwealth nations and extend our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family."

Iceland

Iceland changed its logo and and timeline photo to black in respect of the Queen's passing. Their post to Facebook read: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and we thank her for her extraordinary decades of service to this country. Our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family."
