Priscilla Chan's story begins with a family decision made during one of the most turbulent periods in Vietnam's history. Her grandparents sent their teenage children away by boat in search of safety during the Vietnam War, uncertain whether they would ever see them again.
Years later, Chan would become the first person in her family to attend university, graduate from Harvard, train as a paediatrician and help build one of the world's most prominent philanthropic organisations focused on science and healthcare.
