Mark Wright consoled on This Morning after rushing to try and save man's life on holiday

An emotional Mark Wright was consoled by Holly Willoughy, as he appeared on This Morning to share his story of rushing to try and save a man' life while he was on holiday.

It's been close to 13 years now since Mark first shot to TV fame as an original cast member on The Only Way Is Essex, before quitting the show after three series to do I'm A Celebrity, where he finished second to McFly star Dougie Poynter. Since then, Mark, now 35, has been a regular on TV, as well as becoming a fitness guru and a keen charity ambassador.

And on Thursday he appeared on This Morning, to raise the importance of people learning CPR. Mark explained that he is close friends with Charlie Edinburgh, who lost his footballer dad Justin to a cardiac arrest during a gym class and has since launched Justin's Law to get everyone involved in sport to get compulsory training for CPR.

Recalling what happened when he was on holiday, Mark said" We were just checking into the hotel when his poor man's wife came up in a it of a tizz, saying her husband had collapsed and no-one in the hotel responded. The first thing I thought was that I was in a place where expected people to be trained; there were lifeguards around and stuff.

"It wasn't that they...I don't know if they were trained or not. It was the fact that nobody reacted."

Mark revealed that given he had just been sent a video from Charlie of a video he starred in to promote awareness of CPR training, he felt he had to go and help, so sprung into action and administered CPR on the stricken man.

Sadly the man passed away and as Mark relived that, he got choked up, saying: "I did what I could, but he was there for a while before I got there," explaining that the man did respond with some breaths, giving his family 'time to say goodbye.'

"Rushing to reassure Mark, Holly told him: "Like you said, you've got someone's life under your hands. It doesn't get any more real than that."
