Mark Wright breaks down in tears as he recalls losing beloved family member

Mark Wrigh t was reduced to tears during the latest episode of his new BBC One show as he recalled losing a close family member during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking on A Wright Family Holiday with his brother, Josh and dad, Mark senior, the former TOWIE star appeared to be overcome with emotion as the trio discussed his late uncle, Eddie.

The programme follows the Wright men on a UK family holiday together as they look to reconnect and create new memories.

All three were visibly emotional as they discussed their difficulties over the last few years.

Mark senior became seriously ill himself with Covid-19, leaving the family seriously concerned for his health, and it was during this period that Eddie tragically passed away.

Chatting about his death, Mark asked his dad whether Eddie would have believed he went into a cave - as he does on the new show.

"He's here with me, that's why I done it. Trust me, he's here, I felt it, 1000%," Mark declared.

He continued: "There was three of us in hospital with Covid. Eddie my brother, we were very good friends and not just brothers.

"It was horrendous when he passed away. To lose someone so close and have to tell my mum and dad was horrendous."

As Mark senior began to tear up, Josh added: "He would be so proud, that's for sure."

Earlier this week, meanwhile, 36-year old Mark appeared on The One Show and recalled the 'scariest moment of his life', which saw his dad collapse during the filming of their show.

Discussing a tricky challenge that saw the family attempt to get down to the bottom of a mine in Wales, Mark opened up about Mark senior passing out.

He explained: "It took like six hours to get to the bottom. We slept as far underground as The Shard is high.

"There was one part of it when there was just a scaffold board, or a few, attached to a cliff and you had your little ropes you had to keep taking the hocks on and off and for that moment the bosses weren't holding our hands, we had to do it on our own."

A Wright Family Holiday is available on BBC iPlayer.
