Mark Wood replaces retired Anderson in England squad for second Windies Test

NEW DELHI: Fast bowler Mark Wood has been selected to replace James Anderson in England's squad for the upcoming second Test against West Indies, which will take place at Trent Bridge next week, as announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday.

Anderson, aged 41, retired on Friday after completing his 188th Test match, having claimed 704 wickets throughout his impressive 21-year career, placing him as the third-highest wicket taker in the format, reported Reuters.

England secured a comprehensive victory over West Indies by an innings and 114 runs at Lord's.

Wood, who is 34 years old, has represented England in 34 Tests, taking 108 wickets in the process. His most recent Test appearance was against India in March.

The second Test is set to commence on Thursday, and the third and final Test of the series will be held in Birmingham, starting on July 26.
