There are a lot of ways to describe Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. On Sunday, Fox analyst Mark Sanchez picked a pretty weird one.
As Philadelphia faced off against the New York Jets, Hurts was slippery as ever. He's a tough guy to take down.
Hurts's play was worth mentioning, and so Sanchez took a shot.
"They can't get this guy to the turf," Sanchez said. "Jalen Hurts, what is he? He's like a salmon covered in Vaseline, bro. This guy's just too slippery."
A salmon covered in Vaseline... you got it, Mark Sanchez pic.twitter.com/2bdljY1Cfu

Not every metaphor is necessary. Just "slippery" probably would have worked fine here Mark.
Fans following the game from home were confounded with Sanchez's comparison.
Mark Sanchez could have compared Jalen Hurts to literally anything and his brain went with "a salmon covered in vaseline"

“like a salmon covered in Vaseline” ah yes of course

Ah yes, vaseline-covered salmon. Totally normal thing we've all experienced. https://t.co/IuLXENqxkZ

The broadcast just referred to Jalen Hurts as a “salmon covered in Vaseline” and I am confused. Incredible analogy for slipperiness but did he just come up with that on the spot?

I get Mark Sanchez is trying to be splashy with his analysis, but you have to make sure folks will actually get it. When he makes bizarre similes like saying Jalen Hurts is “like a salmon covered in Vaseline” in front of a national audience, he’s really fighting upstream.

I’m not sure if I should be impressed, or confused, by Mark Sanchez calling Jalen Hurts a “salmon covered in Vaseline?” #PHIvsNYJ https://t.co/jtU1Ttrkqg

If you ever find yourself having dinner with Mark Sanchez, don't order the salmon.
