Mark Robinson, the GOP candidate for governor in North Carolina, received a warm reception at the state party's convention on Saturday. Several state candidates endorsed Robinson's bid for governor, setting the stage for his energetic speech at the NCGOP Convention's Old North State Dinner in Greensboro.

During his address, Robinson criticized the media for focusing on Donald Trump's legal issues rather than the 'failures of the Democratic Party.' He outlined his vision for the state, emphasizing economic growth and education reform as key priorities.

Robinson, a 55-year-old Republican, is engaged in a closely watched gubernatorial race against Democratic opponent Josh Stein, the state's Attorney General. His outspoken style has resonated with Trump supporters, earning him a formal endorsement from the former president himself.

While Robinson's views on LGBTQ rights and abortion access have drawn criticism, he has defended his positions by asserting his ability to separate personal beliefs from governance. He aims to position North Carolina as a 'destination state for life.'

Highlighting Republican policies for the state's economic success, Robinson emphasized the governor's role in sustaining this growth. He expressed optimism about North Carolina's economic potential and stressed the importance of directing this growth effectively.

Education emerged as another focal point for Robinson, who lamented the state of North Carolina's education system. He praised teachers and likened their importance to that of police officers.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum also voiced support for Robinson, predicting his victory in the gubernatorial race. The significance of North Carolina in the 2024 election was underscored by Republican figures, who suggested that the state could influence the nation's trajectory.
