A lightsaber used by American actor Mark Hamill in one of the most unforgettable moments in movie history has sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million, making it the most valuable on-screen Star Wars prop ever auctioned.

The weapon, used during the legendary Cloud City duel in The Empire Strikes Back, went under the hammer at Heritage Auctions. It opened with a starting bid of $1 million, but competitive bidding quickly pushed the final price far past initial expectations.
