Mark Allen carrying daughter's inspiration on his wrist for world title bid

Mark Allen surged into the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship with a 13-4 demolition of Stuart Bingham.

The Antrim cue star needed just 15 minutes to turn a 12-4 overnight lead into a convincing victory at The Crucible on Saturday.

It sets up a last-eight clash with either Neil Robertson or Jak Jones, and edges Allen closer to realising the dream of winning a first-ever World title.

The 37-year-old, whose best performance in Shefield was a semi-final appearance back in 2009, says he has been taking inspiration from a bracelet given to him by five-year-old daughter Harley.

Allen said: "I'm wearing this little bracelet that my daughter made, it says 'dad' on it.

"Something so simple. When things aren't going great out there, it just puts things in perspective.

"Just seeing every frame, that's what really matters."

Despite his convincing win, Allen accepts there is work to be done if he wants to progress further in the tournament.

“I made a few silly mistakes here and there, but in general I thought I scored much better,” added the Antrim man.

“I have confidence in my results but not really in my performances. To win the World Championship, you need to be better than what I’ve shown this year, but as long as I keep winning matches and tournaments I’ll be happy.”
