Mario & Luigi: Brothership has been announced, and it's coming to Nintendo Switch on November 7, 2024.
Revealed today during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct showcase, Mario & Luigi: Brothership is the first new entry in the series in almost nine years and sees the iconic brothers return in an all-new platforming adventure featuring turn-based combat.
This announcement arrived alongside an action-packed gameplay trailer, which you can watch below, where we see the duo overcome both side-scrolling and vertical challenges as they explore a number of islands.
Nintendo executive Shinya Takahashi was also present during the broadcast to share more details about this "seafaring adventure", which will include "evolved bros moves" between Mario and Luigi.
"The brothers are back for a brand-new entry in the Mario & Luigi series, where they set sail on Shipshape Island (part ship, part island) to navigate the vast world of Concordia," the press release reads.
Playing as both Mario and Luigi, players can explore islands that range from tropical rainforests to bustling cities, and meet new and familiar friends along the way that will help them along the way, including Princess Peach and Bowser.
"Keep the 'Brothership' afloat and rely on Mario and Luigi’s bond to save the day by employing Bros. Moves to get past obstacles and powerful Bros. Attacks to claim victory in a dynamic twist on turn-based combat."
While Mario & Luigi: Brothership kicked off the showcase, Nintendo had plenty of other surprises lined up for the Direct.
Among them was the long-awaited release date for Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake - which is coming this November for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC - as well as the announcement of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, which are coming in 2025.
