Jio’s mega Rs 30,200 crore initial public offering (IPO) is more than India’s largest-ever share sale. For Uday Kotak, it is a reminder of the Reliance public market legacy that began decades ago when a young Kotak saw Mumbai’s Marine Drive illuminated to promote the group’s IPO.
“I recollect my memories from when I was 18 years old. One day, I saw all of Marine Drive lit up. I was told this was a promotion for Reliance’s IPO. That was a magic moment for me,” Kotak said at a press conference on Jio’s IPO.
