Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.
Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.
The Blues plan to revamp their midfield as Marina Granovskaia joins a three-way transfer exchange. Meanwhile, Chelsea looks to lock horns with Europe's elite for one of the world's best players.
Juventus make Jorginho approach
Juventus have made an approach for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, according to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 30-year-old, who is valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt, has enjoyed the best football of his career in west London since arriving - controversially - from Napoli in 2018, becoming a crucial player for both club and country in recent years.
The Old Lady were previously linked with Jorginho during Maurizio Sarri's tenure, and Massimiliano Allegri has now reignited the Italian side's pursuit.
The Italy international's long-term future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt, with his current contract at the club due to expire in the summer of 2023.
Our view: Jorginho gets more slack than any other player in modern football at the moment, and I think it's unfair - he is up there among the best, and it's no surprise that his peers obviously think so too.
We lived through successive footballing eras of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets at Barcelona and Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro at Real Madrid who inhumanly ability to produce at the highest level, in tandem, without fail every week set an unnatural expectation - similarly to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for forwards.
Every player makes mistakes, and I think a lot of Jorginho's criticism is unwarranted, so he would be a miss at Chelsea but very much replaceable - especially at 30.
Chelsea wants Barcelona maestro
Chelsea has approached Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia).
De Jong, who is valued at £63 million by Transfermarkt, has made 26 appearances for the struggling Catalan side this season, who sit just fifth in La Liga and 15 adrift of league leaders Real Madrid.
The report claims that Tuchel's side face competition from Juventus for the 24-year-old's signature, as clubs swarm around the Camp Nou looking for a cut-price deal.
Our view: I'd love to see de Jong at Chelsea, roaming the midfield with N'Golo Kante or Mateo Kovacic.
I think he's a top player and would be a great replacement for Jorginho if Juventus do push ahead with a deal for the Italy international, as aforementioned.
Blues eye sensational Salah swoop
Chelsea is 'ready' to test the waters at Anfield over a possible deal for Mohamed Salah, according to Tribal Football.
The Liverpool forward sees his current deal in Merseyside expire in 18 months, and the Blues are reportedly 'drawing up plans to bid' for his services.
Goal (via Tribal Football) claims there is no guarantee that Salah and Liverpool reach an agreement over a new deal, thus encouraging the interest of European rivals.
Tuchel's side faces stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid, as per the report.
Our view: What a deal this would be, Salah would be the perfect player for Chelsea's front-three, and I think the Egyptian's record speaks for himself.
No club is in a position to turn down a deal for Salah.
