Lee Johnson has added another new recruit to his Hibs side as Marijan Cabraja replaces Josh Doig following his move to Hellas Verona.
The left-back arrives in Edinburgh from Dinamo Zagreb, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal, pending international clearance and work permit approval. The 25-year-old signs for an undisclosed fee as the Hibees gear up for the 2022/23 campaign. He three honours under his belt, lifting the Prva HNL trophy as well as the Croation Cup with Dinamo Zagred as well as the winning the Hungary's top flight during a spell on loan with Ferencváro . Čabraja has also spent time at Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia. The versatile left-sided player has also been capped by Croatia from Under-14s through to Under-21s.
Following the news, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said: “We are delighted to welcome Marijan to Hibernian FC and look forward to working with him. He has history of playing at a very high level and is the perfect age to add to our group. He’s athletic, a really technical left-back who has quality on the ball through his delivery and distribution. He will add strength to our group.”
Hibs head of Recruitment, Ian Gordon, added: “Squad planning is always at the forefront of our minds and knowing there’s been interest in Josh Doig for a prolonged period, Marijan is someone we’ve been looking at very closely. He has experience of playing European football, has good pedigree, and is someone we believe can hit the ground running straight away.”
