Mariah Carey 'rakes in $3million per year' from All I Want For Christmas Is You

Mariah Carey reportedly enjoys a $3million (£2.4m) payday every single year thanks for her 1994 festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The Fantasy hitmaker, 52, has thought to have earned well over $70million (£58m) from the seasonal song, which topped the UK charts again last year.

As fans continue to stream the holiday hit, royalties keep stacking up as her overall earnings quickly approach the $100million (£84m) mark.

She had already made more than $60million (£50million) in just royalties alone back in 2016, as reported by The Economist at the time.

More calculations later revealed that Mariah is earning around $3million (£2.4million) per year – and that number will only increase as more play the song.

None of this is taking into account her earnings from performing the song, including her most recent show at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade last month.

She shocked fans during December's live show as she brought her 'adorable' twins Monroe and Moroccan out on stage in New York City.

"Didn't expect to start crying with joy upon seeing Mariah's gorgeous twins at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade," Tweeted one follower at the time.

They added that the kids were "celebrating their mum's legacy with her".

Mariah's bumper All I Want For Christmas Is You payday comes after losing a trademark battle to become the official Queen of Christmas.

The Fantasy hitmaker had attempted to trademark the royal title, the abbreviation 'QOC' and the next best name 'Princess Christmas'.

All the requests were officially denied by the US Patent and Trademark Office after her company failed to respond to a rival's opposition.

Her company Lotion LLC applied for the trademark earlier last year, but they ran into issues despite it being something that would normally be smooth sailing.

Singer Elizabeth Chan put in a legal challenge in August in a bid to stop her from obtaining the registration after disagreeing with Mariah's merchandise intentions.

Unfortunately for Mariah, Lotion LLC didn't respond to Elizabeth's opposition in time, which now means the trademark was not granted.
