Mariah Carey Cancels Her Christmas Concerts Due to Health Issues

En español

'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey is undoubtedly one of the biggest anthems that echoes across the United States and the world during the holiday season.

However, this year some fans will miss the chance to hear it live, as the singer has been forced to cancel several performances due to health issues.

An announcement on social media confirmed that part of her 'Mariah Carey's Christmas Time 2024' tour, which began in late November across North America, has been canceled due to a severe flu.

Mariah had already informed her fans through her personal accounts that her scheduled performance at Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena would not take place due to her illness.

"Pittsburgh, I'm sorry to say, I've come down with the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight's show. I love you all so much," she shared.

Now she has also canceled her shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, citing the ongoing flu as the reason.

"Newark and Belmont: I wish I had better news, but unfortunately I'm still sick and have to cancel tonight's and Sunday's shows," she explained.

Mariah also opened up about how this has affected her and expressed gratitude to her fans for their understanding.

"I'm really devastated about it and appreciate your support. Love, MC," she wrote, adding a broken heart emoji.

Despite her health struggles, Mariah still has one final concert scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, at the Barclays Center in New York, which is set to conclude her tour.

It remains unclear whether she will recover in time to honor the commitment and bring a festive holiday spirit to her New York fans. As of now, no confirmation has been made by her team regarding the concert.

The show cancellations coincide with the 30th-anniversary celebration of Mariah's iconic Christmas album, which has been released in various editions, including on vinyl.

Additionally, her recovery will be crucial for her to participate as the opening act for the NFL's first-ever Christmas halftime show on December 25. Sponsored by Netflix, the event will also feature Beyoncé as the headliner.
