After the record-breaking success of the Barbie movie, Margot Robbie is gearing up for her next big screen project. The 33-year-old actress will be venturing into another live-action film by producing the big screen debut of The Sims, a popular computer game.
Robbie's production company, LuckyChap, along with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment, will spearhead the feature film. Electronic Arts, the publisher of The Sims game, will provide creative guidance for the project.
The Sims, a life simulation game first released in 2000, allows players to control avatars with changeable personality traits, skills, and relationships. While there is no specific leading character in The Sims universe, the game revolves around everyday tasks and interactions.
Robbie, who has already produced 13 films through her production company, expressed her intention to take a break from acting following the success of Barbie. She mentioned her interest in directing a movie of her own in the future.
The release date for The Sims movie is yet to be confirmed. Despite not receiving a Best Actress nomination for Barbie at the Oscars, the film was recognized in several categories, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design.
Hit songs from the Barbie movie, such as 'I'm Just Ken' and 'What Was I Made For?', were nominated for Original Song at the Oscars, with Billie Eilish winning the award for the latter.
