Marcus Williams on Ravens DC Zach Orr: ‘He’s going to put us in some good positions’
The Baltimore Ravens have a star-studded defense ready to build on their historic 2023 campaign. Although plenty of defensive talent will be available during the 2024 free agency, the team still has the pieces to be dominant once again.
While Baltimore lost a good number of players, it also lost its defensive mastermind, defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. When asked about Orr, safety Marcus Williams sang his praises, saying he believes Orr will put his players in good positions this upcoming season.
“I’m excited. You’ve got a guy [in defensive coordinator Zach Orr] who’s been out there on the field, done what we’ve done, and now he’s transitioning to the ‘DC’ [defensive coordinator] job, which I think he’s doing a good job of right now. He’s going to put us in some good positions to make some plays and dial it up. So, I’m excited to see what our future holds for this year, and I hope he comes out there and does exactly what he knows he’s going to do.”
Orr is a first-time defensive play-caller, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he has an extremely bright mind, which helped him play for three seasons in the NFL before medically retiring. He is considered an up-and-coming coach and should be able to lead Baltimore’s defense in a great way moving forward.
