Marcus Rashford reveals Manchester United dressing room target after Liverpool FC response

Marcus Rashford wants Manchester United to regain their momentum after they suffered a huge setback against Liverpool.

United last won at Anfield with Louis van Gaal in charge in January 2016, but following months of progress inspired by Erik ten Hag, the confidence among supporters in ending that barren run on Merseyside was high ahead of the fixture.

However, although United were only 1-0 down at half-time in the game, they capitulated in the second half and they conceded another six goals after the interval to suffer the joint-worst loss against Liverpool in the club's history.

Just four days after that embarrassing defeat, United had the opportunity to begin to make amends with a clash against Real Betis in the Europa League and players were able to deliver with a 4-1 victory, which delighted Ten Hag.

Speaking after that dominant win, Rashford spoke to MUTV and he stressed the importance of regaining momentum again.

"Good performance and a good win," Rashford said. "Four goals, so I'm pleased we can start the tie in the right way and obviously bounce back from the last game as well, so it's now about getting the momentum back that we had before Liverpool.

"We need to put that [momentum] back. I knew I was going to go high [with the first goal] and it's always nice to start the game well and with a goal. We definitely started the game well, we had an offside goal and a had a couple of chances.

"We started the second half well as well, with the two goals, and it's important to put us in a good place in the game. We had to stay calm, composed, as we felt like we were creating the chances and that's the difficult part.

"You have to put it in the net after that. It was a good performance and I'm really pleased with the win."
