Marcus Rashford reveals his best position at Manchester United after Nottingham Forest win

Marcus Rashford admitted that he prefers to play on the left wing after scoring his 10th goal of the season in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

Fresh from scoring an outstanding solo effort against Burnley in the Carabao Cup last week, the United academy graduate swept home a fantastic finish with just 19 minutes gone, connecting with a well-worked Christian Eriksen corner. He then turned provider just three minutes later, teeing up Anthony Martial to double the Reds' advantage.

Starting on the left wing, Rashford was a constant threat and was almost allowed to roam free by manager Erik ten Hag, such were the positions he took up. He did move centrally just past the hour mark when Martial was taken off and replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.

Debates about Rashford's best position have remained ongoing this season, although the majority of supporters and pundits believe he is best suited to playing out wide and coming inside onto his stronger right foot. And that, too, is the role that 25-year-old believes he is at his best in.

"I think it depends on the opposition and the personality that you're playing against," Rashford told Amazon Prime Video. "More often than not, I prefer to play on the left.

"But if there is a weakness in the middle or there is a certain style of player that I feel I can exploit, then I like to have the freedom to try and move and try and do that. I like to see what I can sense on the pitch."

Rashford's goal against Forest came from a well-worked corner routine. Eriksen played the ball in low and Rashford darted in front of the main pack of Forest defenders to connect with the ball sweetly and bend it away from goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

On picking up the right position to score, Rashford added: "I feel comfortable in those positions and I want to put myself in those positions in games to score goals. I want to be in the box for corners where the goals are scored."
