Matthijs de Ligt comments show what the future could hold for Rashford
Matthijs de Ligt's comments are proof that Marcus Rashford would be given a fresh start at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.
Rashford has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford and has scored just five goals in 26 outings. MEN Sport understands the England international is thinking of leaving the club, with his omission from the starting XI for the recent derby loss to Manchester City causing him to consider his future.
Meanwhile, MEN Sport understands the United board are hoping to appoint Ajax boss Ten Hag as their permanent manager. And if De Ligt's comments from January 2018 are anything to go by, Rashford will be given a chance to prove he is worthy of a place in the United starting line-up.

Speaking to Joep Schreuder of the NOS, the defender said: "Everybody has a new start under Erik ten Hag with a new football vision and opinions and as a squad that can only be good for us in order to continue development in the future. What Paulo Dybala has said about Ronaldo amid United transfer links
Juventus star Paulo Dybala has previously described playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo as a 'pleasure', amid reports linking him with a summer move to United.
Dybala, according to a report by Sky Sports, will leave Juventus at the end of this season after it was agreed he will not be signing a new contract at the club. His current deal is due to expire in June and, despite talks between the Turin club's hierarchy and Dybala's agent, an agreement has failed to be reached.
Therefore, he will be available on a free transfer this summer and various news outlets are already linking the Argentine with a move to Old Trafford. Dybala was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2019.
At the time, it was claimed by Sky Italia that Spurs had agreed a fee with Juventus to sign the versatile attacker, who has netted 13 goals and grabbed six assists in 29 appearances in all competitions this season. Furthermore, United were also credited with interest.
