Marcus Rashford has opened up on the strict disciplinary measures implemented by Louis van Gaal that saw him fined every week.
Rashford broke into the United first team under Van Gaal's leadership back in 2016, making his debut in the Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland due to an injury crisis. The forward scored twice in a 5-1 win at just 18 years old.
But experienced manager Van Gaal kept the striker grounded, ensuring he remained in college and completed his academic work before coming to training - the only problem being it almost always led to him being late on Thursdays.

"I always remember Thursdays," Rashford told Sky Sports. "I used to get fined every Thursday, [but] it was completely out of my control but this is the type of person that Van Gaal was.
"He used to tell me I have to finish my college work, it's non-negotiable, but I also can't be late for training, it's non-negotiable. I had 12 minutes to get here [to the training ground] from college."
Van Gaal left United at the end of that 2015/2016 campaign after winning the FA Cup, and the experienced Dutchman is held in high regard by those who played under him.
When the veteran boss revealed he had prostate cancer, the United striker tweeted: "Earned my debut from LVG. Will forever be indebted. You can fight this. We are all behind you."
Under another Dutch coach in Erik ten Hag, the 25-year-old is now enjoying the form of his life with 25 goals this season, including the second in Sunday's Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle.
