Marcus Ericsson denies Romain Grosjean with late charge to Markham IndyCar victory

Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson ended a 63-race winless drought with a dramatic late charge to pass Romain Grosjean and win the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.

After pitting from the lead with 21 laps remaining and droppping to seventh, Ericsson stormed back on fresh alternate tires, passed Grosjean for the lead with five laps to go and coasted to victory by 7.5305s on the 12-turn, 2.19-mile temporary street circuit. It’s Ericsson’s fifth career IndyCar victory and first since St. Petersburg in 2023.
