Marcela Alcaraz Comes Out to Disprove Death by Poisonous Frog Rumors

En español

Marcela Alcaraz, known for her role in 'Como dice el dicho,' recently debunked rumors of her death after they went viral in the wake of another actress's tragic passing.

On December 1, news broke that Marcela Alcázar Rodríguez, a 33-year-old actress from Durango, had died after ingesting Kambó (frog venom) during a spiritual ceremony.Confusion arose when media outlets and social networks mistakenly associated Alcázar Rodríguez's death with Alcaraz due to the similarity of their names.

"I'm Alive and Well"

In a video shared on her social media accounts, Alcaraz clarified "I want to take this opportunity to greet you, let you see me, and confirm that I'm alive and well."

She further explained, "I've never attended a spiritual retreat, I've never went to Durango, and I didn't consume any type of venom. I'm alive and well," she stated, assuring her followers by appearing on camera herself.

Alcaraz also expressed her condolences to the family and friends of Alcázar Rodríguez, who tragically lost her life in the incident.

Marcela Alcaraz was off Social Media

The 'Siempre tuya Acapulco' actress had been inactive on social media, leaving her without a platform to quickly address the misinformation. It wasn't until December 5 that Alcaraz, alongside her manager, issued an official statement and released videos and images to clarify the situation.

A call for media responsibility

Alcaraz criticized the spread of false information and urged media outlets to fact-check before publishing.

"This completely false news should never have been shared," she said, expressing concern about the emotional toll the rumors may have had on her five-year-old son and family.

The death of Marcela Alcázar Rodríguez is under investigation

Kambó, a substance used in rituals by shamans, has sparked debate due to its health risks. Reports indicate that Alcázar Rodríguez began experiencing severe symptoms after the ritual but was not treated in time, resulting in her death.

The Mexican State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation to determine if negligence occurred in the handling of the case. Questions remain about the responsibility of the event organizers and the shaman involved.
