Marc Roca looks set to undergo a medical at Leeds United today ahead of his proposed switch from Bayern Munich. According to reports in the Athletic and on Sky Sports, Roca is on the verge of becoming the Whites’ latest signing of the summer as the club move swiftly to bolster their squad.
The deal is said to be worth an initial £10m and his move to Elland Road could be announced sooner rather than later, should he pass his medical. The 25-year-old is a defensive midfielder and arrives at Leeds having spent the last two seasons with Bayern, where outings came in the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
He only made 24 appearances in total for the German giants and he’ll no doubt be keen to pick up regular game time once more in the Premier League. Roca started his career with Espanyol in Spain and certainly caught the eye with his performances in La Liga, featuring prominently in the competition for four years before being picked up by Bayern.
The former Spain under-21 international will become Leeds' third off-season addition as he joins Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen in making the move to Yorkshire. The recruitment drive comes after a campaign in which Leeds managed to seal survival on the final day with a win at the Brentford Community Stadium.
The Whites found themselves short of options in the middle at times last season and it is hoped Roca will be able to play a key role moving forward.
