Marc Hirschi wins GP Industria & Artigianato

PLOUAY FRANCE AUGUST 25 Marc Hirschi of Switzerland and UAE Team Emirates celebrates at finish line as race winner during the 93rd Bretagne Classic OuestFrance 2024 a 2598km one day race from Plouay to Plouay UCIWT on August 25 2024 in Plouay France Photo by Luc ClaessenGetty Images.

Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates) seized a solo victory in the GP Industria & Artigianato on Sunday amid rainy conditions, securing his third win in a month after his triumphs at the Bretagne Classic and San Sebastian Klasikoa.

Due to weather conditions, the race was shortened by 26 kilometres from the usual 196km circuit, removing one of the three closing laps, around Larciano.

Attacking on the final ascent of San Baronto, the Swiss rider held on to a slim lead to take the victory, four seconds ahead of chaser Thomas Silva (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA). Hirschi’s teammate Diego Ulissi hit out from the heavily reduced pack to take third place, crossing the line five seconds after Silva.
