Marc Cucurella has already admitted that he'd like to return to Barcelona at some point in his career, a quote which may concern Chelsea as they attempt to sign the 24-year-old.
football.london understands that Chelsea are in advanced talks with Brighton and Hove Albion over a deal to sign Cucurella after Man City had been the front-runners to sign the Spaniard all summer long. Talks between the Premier League champions and Brighton recently broke down, with the Seagulls looking for £50 million.
Cucurella handed in an official transfer request at the Amex Stadium last week, but Brighton did not lower their asking price. Chelsea are now confident they can match that and have made it clear to the Seagulls that they will indeed do so.

Our reporter Bobby Vincent has also reported that Cucurella's camp have made it clear to Chelsea that he is open to a move.
However, if Barcelona were to come in for him, could the talented Spaniard look to eventually force a move back to his hometown club? Cucurella was born in Catalonia, and grew up less than 30 minutes away from Barcelona. He would come through the ranks at the club, but only featured once before signing for Getafe in 2020.
Speaking to DAZN (via Diario Sport ), Cucurella has already admitted that he's upset that he never got to play at Camp Nou as a Barcelona player.
He said: “In the end, I was at Barcelona for many years and I can say it’s my home as well as my family’s home and my wife’s home, as she’s also from Barcelona. It’s a thorn in my side that I made my first team debut but I never played at Camp Nou. I think that’s something I’d like to do before I retire.”
Chelsea's interest in Cucurella can be dated back to when the 24-year-old was playing for the aforementioned Spanish club.
