Customers of international betting firm Marathonbet were today told operations on its UK website would be suspended due to "ongoing events in Europe".
The company entered UK markets in 2015 when it also signed a three-year sponsorship partnership with Liverpool FC. An article on the Reds' website at the time said: "Liverpool FC today announce that Marathonbet will be joining the club's suite of regional betting brands, signing a three-year deal that will bring further value to fans through a combination of exclusive odds and special offers."
In 2019 Marathonbet, a subsidiary of Panserve Ltd, also signed an "eight figure" deal with Manchester City to promote its brand on the front of the club's training kits, after spending the previous 18 months as a betting partner. A Liverpool FC spokeswoman told the ECHO its partnership with Marathonbet ended in 2018.
