Marathon streamer goes viral after finding a high school best friend through proximity chat he hadn't seen in over 10 years: "Bro, I have goosebumps"

One game streamer has gone viral after reuniting with his childhood best friend using Marathon's proximity chat.

The Twitch streamer and content creator, aptly called Crayator online, aka Nathan William Clifford Gordon Ryan, was livestreaming Bungie's new extraction shooter earlier this month when he stumbled across a friend from his high school that he had lost contact with for over a decade.

Three and a bit hours into a five-hour Marathon stream, Crayator gets into a heated exchange with someone who's seemingly a stranger out for blood (and loot) via the game's proximity chat, which lets players talk on voice chat if their characters are close enough to each other.

But what starts out as a shaky confrontation turns into a heart warming reunion. The 'enemy' player turns out to be Crayator's long lost "old best friend" James, and the two begin to reconnect in game after no time at all with Crayator sharing that he's kind of "famous" on YouTube now and James sharing that he's since become a mental health nurse.

"Bro, I have goosebumps," Crayator says. "Bro, I'm gonna start crying… What the f**k?... I can't believe this. I'm actually stunned."

"Dude, this is f**ked," he continues. "I've never seen a streamer have this happen. This might be the first, like. I've never seen something like this happen before. What is going on? Man."

After a while, the two reminisce about broken fingers and "all the weed we used to smoke," and then catch each other up on everything that's gone on in their respective lives over the next hour or so. As tense as extraction shooters can get, they can also be surprisingly really wholesome.

Marathon takes cues from Helldivers 2, as a cryptic message tells players to kill 500 million UESC to unlock its mysterious Cryo Archive map: "Clankers are back on the menu boys"
