PUNE: State education minister Varsha Gaikwad has said that any schools against which complaints are received from parents that they are reluctant to make Marathi a compulsory language subject would face strict action by the education department.
During a question-and-answer session in the state cabinet, Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) Kishore Jorgewar, Vishwanath Boir, Sanjay Gaikwad, Pratap Sarnaik and others asked the house how many schools in the state were fined for not teaching Marathi a compulsory language.
