A MAP showing filming locations in Christopher Nolan's epic The Odyssey has been released, allowing film fans to explore the stunning landscapes of the hit movie.
The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic, with Matt Damon starring as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, as he makes his perilous 10-year journey home after the Trojan War. It is the first feature film to be shot entirely with Imax film cameras.
The film has set a new record for Nolan with his biggest box office debut, taking 264 million US dollars (£196m), according to Universal Pictures.
Filming took place across Moray locations in June 2025, with Hollywood stars such as Damon, Tom Holland and Zendaya spotted in the area during that time.
Now Moray Council's map shows fans exactly where shooting took place, and offers a glimpse into how north-east Scotland stood in for ancient Greece.
The key areas include Findlater Castle, used extensively for scenes involving Circe and Odysseus's men, Sunnyside Beach where the soldiers came ashore, and Culbin Forest, which is the site of a particularly violence and unnerving scene in the film.
The council has created what it is calling the Odyssey Trail to supplement the individual locations, taking visitors from Cullen to Portsoy and passing several key locations used by Nolan and his crew.
They add that aside from seeing behind the scenes of the movie magic, visitors have a good chance of spotting dolphins, seals and seabirds.
Moray Council added: "Whether you're following in the footsteps of Odysseus or exploring thousands of years of local history, an unforgettable adventure awaits."

Meanwhile MP Graham Leadbitter has tabled an Early Day Motion in the UK Parliament celebrating the filming of the blockbuster in these beautiful Moray locations.
The text of the motion reads: "That this House celebrates Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey’s starring role in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster The Odyssey; recognises Culbin Forest and Burghead Harbour’s important role as filming locations used in the north-east of Scotland to bring the story to screen; further recognises the impact of both screen production and screen tourism on Scotland’s economic growth, worth over £700m and £130m respectively; and notes the important role of Screen Scotland and the funding it receives from both the Scottish Government and The National Lottery in developing and growing Scotland’s screen sector and developing Scotland’s reputation as a destination for international productions."
Leadbitter (below) added: “It’s great to think that when millions of people from right across the world sit down to watch the Odyssey in cinemas, they’ll spend a good chunk of their time admiring our local scenery.
“And rightly so, we live in an outstanding part of the world, and I'm thrilled to see that finally receiving global recognition.
“Screen Scotland and the Scottish Government work extremely hard to bring big screen productions like this to Scotland which deliver massive economic boosts to local communities and the wider Scottish economy.
“It’s thanks to their work that the only gruelling journey stars like Matt Damon face to get here are fictional.
“With the amazing box office success of the film, here's hoping many tourists make their own Odyssey to visit the area and appreciate it in person.”
