Football fan Ian Hensworth jailed for 22 years after he slashed friend's throat when she broke his Digibox

A Mansfield Town fan has been jailed for 22 years after he was found guilty of trying to kill a woman by slitting her throat.

Ian Hensworth, 63, of Hartley Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was convicted of attempted murder after a jury deliberated for 70 minutes at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, February 16.

As he was sentenced to the 22 years, of which he will serve two-thirds before he is liable for release, the judge said: "It was a determined and premeditated attempt."
