
A manhunt is underway after a man was fatally stabbed in Shadwell.
Police were called at 4.01pm on Tuesday to reports of an assault on Watney Street. Officers attended with emergency personnel from the London Ambulance Service and found a man police say is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s with knife wounds.
He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, but sadly died despite the efforts of medical staff.
Detectives are now working to identify his next of kin.
A second man was found at the scene with a knife wound. This man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
There have been no arrests as of the Metropolitan Police’s latest update today. The Standard has contacted for an update.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, leading the Met’s investigation, said his thoughts were with the victim’s family and loved ones, as well as anyone in the community who may have been affected.
“We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding his tragic death,” he said.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who has CCTV or dash cam footage that could assist in our enquiries – please come forward with any information.”
