As a heatwave continues to sweep across the UK, temperatures in Manchester will be hotter than some popular holiday destinations abroad today, including Istanbul.
The Turkish capital will be reaching temperatures as high as 27C but will be outdone by Manchester today with a scorching sun and clear skies culminating in 28C for most of the afternoon, according to the Met Office. Meanwhile, a heat-health alert has been issued by the UKHSA across the South East and South of England.
The level 3 alert, which is currently in place for today (July 11) until Friday, July 15, means that everyone must be careful while outside today and must pay extra attention to how the heat will affect them. Those especially vulnerable to the heat must ensure that they stay in the shade, keep cool and remain hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.

"We want everyone to enjoy the hot weather when it arrives, but also to check in on their vulnerable family, friends and neighbours," the UKHSA's Dr Agostinho Sousa said.
According to the Met Office, today's forecast will see: "Another dry and fine day with plenty of sunshine, though this may become hazy at times into the afternoon. Remaining very warm, locally hot in the south, with light winds. Maximum temperature 30 °C."
For tonight, it adds: "Dry and bright into Monday evening with skies becoming cloudy from midnight, perhaps with outbreaks of rain reaching Cumbria by early morning. Minimum temperature 14 °C."
