Mason Mount will make his long-awaited return from injury as Manchester United host Aston Villa this afternoon.
Michael Carrick’s side leapfrogged Unai Emery’s men into third with their win over Crystal Palace at the end of February, but they missed out on the chance to put some distance between the two sides after a 2-1 loss at Newcastle.

That result was Carrick’s first in his second interim spell at his former club, but United are still third on goal difference.
The Red Devils will be without Lisandro Martinez against Villa, but Mount is back in the matchday squad after being sidelined since the start of February with a knock sustained in training.

Noussair Mazraoui suffered a foot injury at Newcastle which resulted in a late substitution, but he trained with the squad this week and also makes the bench. Patrick Dorgu and Matthijs de Ligt are long-term absentees.
Senne Lammens is shielded by a back four of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw.
Kobbie Mainoo’s solid partnership with Casemiro continues, with Bruno Fernandes ahead of them.
Amad Diallo and Matheus Cunha are the wide men, with Bryan Mbeumo seeming to lead the line.
Benjamin Sesko drops to the bench.
