Manchester United vs Crystal Palace LIVE
Benjamin Sesko scored for the sixth time in his last seven appearances as Manchester United came from behind to beat ten-man Crystal Palace on Sunday. The Slovenian striker had gained a reputation as something of a super-sub in recent weeks after scoring off the bench in three of United’s last four, but he made a rare start here and took the chance to impress.
Palace went in at half-time leading 1-0 thanks to an inch-perfect header from Maxence Lacroix, which left Senne Lammens rooted to put the visitors in front mere minutes into the match. United improved after their slow start, though, and were handed a gilt-edge chance to draw level when Lacroix turned from hero to villain, pulling Matheus Cunha down in the box, earning a red card and a penalty for his actions.
Bruno Fernandes dispatched the penalty to level the score, before Sesko headed home to complete the turnaround, and United hung on through eight minutes of injury time to take all three points. FULL TIME: Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:58 , Arthur FerridgeThere’s the final whistle!
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:57 , Arthur Ferridge90+7mins: How United don’t have a fourth yet is beyond me. After placidly passing the ball around in the box for a while and seeing a couple of shots blocked, it falls for Mainoo to shoot from range and he fires wide.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:55 , Arthur Ferridge90+5mins: Richards cynically tackles last-man Diallo, but will face no punishment as the Ivorian had strayed offside.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:54 , Arthur Ferridge90+5mins: Diallo does wonderfully to get away from Riad down the right flank and he finds Zirkzee in the middle. The Dutchman’s shot is blocked by Richards, though.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:53 , Arthur Ferridge90+3mins: Henderson’s palms are left stinging by a well-struck effort from Diallo. Would have been a lovely strike had it gone in.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:52 , Arthur Ferridge90+2mins: Munoz looks to kick off a counter-attack but finds himself completely isolated and is smothered by three red-shirted defenders before he can get the ball out of his feet.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:50 , Arthur Ferridge90mins: A deep free-kick for Palace goes begging after a poor delivery gifts Lammens a goal-kick.
The fourth official then advertises eight added minutes.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:47 , Arthur Ferridge87mins: The clock is ticking, but still Palace seem to think they have a chance. They’re pushing hard for an equaliser, but it isn’t quite happening just yet.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:45 , Arthur Ferridge85mins: Mitchell makes a marauding run forward and shoots from distance. Not quite sure where it ended up. Wasn’t anywhere near the goal, in any case.
Maguire and Mbeumo are replaced by Heaven and Zirkzee, while Pino comes on for Palace in place of Kamada.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:43 , Arthur Ferridge84mins: Zirkzee and Heaven will enter the fray late on as United look to kill this game off.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:41 , Arthur Ferridge82mins: Cunha, now, is the latest United player to chance a long-range pot-shot and draw a routine stop from Henderson.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:39 , Arthur Ferridge80mins: Diallo has a go from the edge of the area, but it is pretty easy for Henderson.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:37 , Arthur Ferridge78mins: United haven’t really done much to kill this game off since Sesko put them in front, and now Palace have livened up a tad. This could go either way yet.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:34 , Arthur Ferridge75mins: Amad Diallo comes on in place of the goalscorer Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:33 , Arthur Ferridge74mins: A brilliant save from Henderson to deny Casemiro.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:32 , Arthur Ferridge73mins: Cunha throws himself to the floor in the box again, but this time Kavanagh isn’t having any of it.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:31 , Arthur Ferridge71mins: Strand Larsen has just been spotted with a pretty hefty ice pack on the back of his ankle.
Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
15:27 , Arthur Ferridge67mins: Palace have looked pretty flat for some time now and that goal will really have drained the fight from them. It could just be a case of damage limitation now.
GOAL! Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace | Sesko '65
15:25 , Arthur FerridgeAnd Sesko gets his goal! Fernandes whips another mean cross into the box and the big Slovenian gets his head to it first. Not a huge amount Henderson could have done to keep it out. Striker’s goal.
Manchester United 1-1 Crystal Palace
15:23 , Arthur Ferridge64mins: Sarr breaks at goal and drives a low shot at Lammens, which is easily saved.
United respond and Fernandes bends one wide of Henderson’s post.
Manchester United 1-1 Crystal Palace
15:22 , Arthur Ferridge63mins: Guessand is down in a heap after coming off worse from a 50/50 with Maguire.
Manchester United 1-1 Crystal Palace
15:19 , Arthur Ferridge60mins: Well, with half an hour remaining this is now United’s game to lose. They’re a man up and require one goal to put Palace to the sword.
Manchester United 1-1 Crystal Palace
15:18 , Arthur Ferridge58mins: Immediate changes from Glasner as Riad and Guessand replace Johnson and Strand Larsen.
GOAL! Manchester United 1-1 Crystal Palace | Fernandes '57
15:16 , Arthur FerridgeFernandes buries the penalty to get Man United back level!
RED CARD! Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:15 , Arthur Ferridge56mins: The goalscorer Lacroix is sent for an early shower!
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:14 , Arthur Ferridge55mins: Lacroix will feel really hard done by if he gets his marching orders here. It is such a soft tackle, but it is technically denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
The penalty has been awarded and Kavanagh is off to the monitor to decide whether it’ll be a yellow or red card.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:14 , Arthur Ferridge54mins: Hard to say what the decision is. It seems it will be a penalty, but this is not yet confirmed.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:13 , Arthur Ferridge53mins: VAR are just checking whether the foul took place inside the box or not. It looks borderline - could go either way, this.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:12 , Arthur Ferridge52mins: PENALTY! Lacroix tripped Cunha in the area and United have a huge chance to equalise!
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:10 , Arthur Ferridge51mins: Mitchell fizzes a low cross in for Strand Larsen, who can’t quite get his effort on target.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:09 , Arthur Ferridge50mins: As with the end of the first-half, this has been all United so far.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:08 , Arthur Ferridge49mins: Henderson, with over 40 minutes left on the clock, is booked for time-wasting.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:08 , Arthur Ferridge48mins: Casemiro heads over from Dalot’s deep cross, and seems to have hurt himself in doing so. He may have knocked heads with Sesko, but is OK to continue.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:07 , Arthur Ferridge47mins: Sesko’s shot is well blocked by Canvot.
2ND HALF: Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
15:04 , Arthur FerridgeWe’re back underway!

HALF-TIME: Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:49 , Arthur FerridgeThat does it for the first-half. A frustrating opening period for United, who have been the better side for about the last 20 minutes but have nothing to show for it.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:48 , Arthur Ferridge47mins: Minimal action to speak of so far in injury time, but as it stands, it seems United will trail at the halfway stage.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:46 , Arthur FerridgeThere will be three minutes added on to the end of the first-half.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:45 , Arthur Ferridge45mins: Sesko, on a rare start, is struggling to impose himself. He has had just seven touches so far.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:44 , Arthur Ferridge43mins: Another Kamada foul, another tantalising United set-piece.
Fernandes crosses this one, but Casemiro heads narrowly wide.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:42 , Arthur Ferridge42mins: A lovely strike from Fernandes demands Henderson’s intervention. Unclear whether it was on target.
Follow-up corner is met by Lacroix’s shaven head.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:41 , Arthur Ferridge41mins: Kamada brings down Mbeumo, quite softly I might add, in the middle of the pitch about 25 yards from goal. Fernandes will fancy this one.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:39 , Arthur Ferridge38mins: CHANCE! Fernandes whips a cross in to Sesko, who has had a quiet match, but Henderson is equal to his header.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:38 , Arthur Ferridge38mins: Mbeumo lays one off to the top of the box but a miscommunication between Fernandes and Mazraoui means Richards is able to get to it first.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:37 , Arthur Ferridge37mins: Kamada goes down with a yelp after a coming together with Dalot. No malice in it, but the United party caught Kamada late with studs to the top of the boot. He is booked for his part in the incident.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:35 , Arthur Ferridge34mins: Sarr goes down in the box off the ball and there are appeals for a penalty, but the linesman makes the decision for us as the flag goes up for offside.
The Senegalese is down injured, though, and will require treatment.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:32 , Arthur Ferridge31mins: United threaten to score from a corner but Canvot reacts quickly to block Maguire’s header.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:30 , Arthur Ferridge30mins: Casemiro looks to play Mbeumo into the area but Lacroix is there to deal with the threat. United come again, though. This is better from the hosts.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:28 , Arthur Ferridge28mins: To United’s credit, they do slowly seem to be waking up. They remain largely aimless on the ball, but their press is starting to cause Palace some problems.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:27 , Arthur Ferridge27mins: Cunha looks to get around Richards in the corner but fails to do so. The American dumps him out of play and Henderson will have a goal kick.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:26 , Arthur Ferridge26mins: Fernandes attempts a cute flicked pass and puts it straight into touch for a Palace throw in. He looks pretty frustrated after that.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:24 , Arthur Ferridge24mins: Luke Shaw walks off and will be replaced by Noussair Mazraoui.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:23 , Arthur Ferridge22mins: Bad to worse for United. Luke Shaw is down injured and it does not look particularly good.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:20 , Arthur Ferridge20mins: United set about attacking Palace but an encouraging move breaks down after Dalot’s misplaced pass.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:19 , Arthur Ferridge18mins: United captain Bruno Fernandes is already looking a bit stroppy and petulant, as he tends to when United aren’t quite at their dazzling best. The body language is far from encouraging and not necessarily becoming of a captain, either.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:16 , Arthur Ferridge16mins: Yoro’s blushes are spared as Palace make a hash of the set-piece.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:15 , Arthur Ferridge15mins: Yoro hauls Strand Larsen down to hand Palace a free-kick about 30 yards out. Dismal start to the match from the young Frenchman so far. He’ll be lucky to make it to half-time at this rate.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:14 , Arthur Ferridge14mins: It has been remarkably straightforward for Crystal Palace so far. United can’t lay a glove on them! The south Londoners are knocking the ball around with ease, and their hosts can barely string passes together.
Has Carrick’s new manager bounce worn off?
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:12 , Arthur Ferridge11mins: Lammens does well to parry Sarr’s strike, but Lacroix was offside in the build-up so it wouldn’t have counted anyway.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:10 , Arthur Ferridge10mins: Palace are pushing to extend their lead! Sarr does well to find Mitchell on the far side, but Dalot’s sliding block ensures his cross does not reach its intended target.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:08 , Arthur Ferridge8mins: United have woken up a little bit as they set about responding to Lacroix’s opener, but their first two forays forward bear little fruit.
Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace
14:06 , Arthur Ferridge6mins: Kamada goes into the book for a cynical-ish trip on Mbeumo. An innocuous one, but that’s the letter of the law.
GOAL! Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace | Lacroix '4
14:05 , Arthur FerridgeThere’s the opener! Lacroix heads the corner home - it’s a beauty! Lammens stood stock still and could only watch as it sailed into the far corner. Dreadful marking from Yoro, though.
Manchester United 0-0 Crystal Palace
14:04 , Arthur Ferridge3mins: All action here as Palace race down the opposite end and Sarr’s deflected shot earns a corner.
Manchester United 0-0 Crystal Palace
14:03 , Arthur Ferridge3mins: A wayward clearance from Henderson falls to Fernandes, who shoots first time and doesn’t quite catch it right. That could have been the opener there had he connected properly.
Manchester United 0-0 Crystal Palace
14:02 , Arthur Ferridge2mins: It is Palace setting the pace early on. Strand Larsen gets the first shot of the afternoon away after a tidy pirouette but it is well off target.
KICK-OFF! Manchester United 0-0 Crystal Palace
14:00 , Arthur FerridgeAnd we’re off! Bruno Fernandes gets us underway.

Oliver Glasner on building momentum with Crystal Palace
13:42 , Arthur Ferridge“We could see and feel it at the training ground - the players are more positive now. Every win helps to bring confidence back. It is going in the right direction."
Michael Carrick on Benjamin Sesko
13:36 , Arthur Ferridge"I think Ben [Sesko] has been in a good spot and a good feeling for a number of weeks - it is building that belief and confidence.
"Looking forward to seeing him today and Amad is a good option for us to finish the game.
"It is great to have those options."

Crystal Palace form check
13:30 , Arthur FerridgeCrystal Palace’s form has been rather unconvincing of late. They laboured to a two-legged defeat of Mostar in the Conference League, and have won just two of their last 12 in the league.
Should they win at Old Trafford today, though, they could finish today in the top half of the table - pending results elsewhere.

He will hope to get back to form here.
Big chance for Sesko
12:56 , Arthur FerridgeBenjamin Sesko starts for United today for the first time since the Red Devils were knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton last month.
He has three goals in four appearances since - all off the bench - and has been handed an opportunity to impress by Carrick.
Can he make the most of the occasion today?

Man Utd predicted XI
12:33 , Arthur FerridgePredicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Sesko
Standard Sport prediction
12:26 , Arthur FerridgeThis is a must-win fixture for Manchester United, especially with a trip to St James’ Park on the horizon as they could put some distance between themselves and Chelsea who face Arsenal at the Emirates later on Sunday.
United, due to no involvement in Europe or domestic cup competitions, will be the fresher of the two sides and we expect them to overcome a Palace team that played on Thursday night.
Manchester United to win, 2-0.
Crystal Palace early team news
12:19 , Arthur FerridgePalace, meanwhile, suffered no fresh injury worries in their Conference League win on Thursday. Maxence Lacroix made a goalscoring return from injury and Oliver Glasner is hopeful the defender can play two matches in three days.
Otherwise, it is the same absentees. Jean-Philippe Mateta continues to be sidelined with a knee problem, while Jefferson Lerma and Eddie Nketiah nurse hamstring issues, and Cheick Doucoure is out long term.

Manchester United early team news
12:12 , Arthur FerridgeMichael Carrick could reward Benjamin Sesko with a start after the striker scored the winner against Everton as a substitute, taking his tally to three goals in his last four appearances.
Sesko may replace Bryan Mbeumo in the starting line-up after the forward hobbled off late on at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That said, if the Cameroon international is passed fit, then Amad Diallo is perhaps the Man United attacker most at risk of making way for the in-form Sesko.
Mason Mount is also a doubt but Matthijs de Ligt - who has not featured since the 2-1 win at Selhurst Park in the reverse fixture back in November - remains sidelined along with Patrick Dorgu and Lisandro Martinez.
