Manchester United XI vs Barnsley: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Carabao Cup today

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made changes for their third-round clash against League One side Barnsley in the Carabao Cup tonight, including a full debut for Manuel Ugarte in midfield.

Captain Bruno Fernandes is among those to drop out after featuring heavily in the opening weeks of the new Premier League season, with Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all set for more minutes.

Summer signing Ugarte is handed a first start after making his debut off the bench in the 3-0 win at Southampton on Saturday, and is joined by veteran Casemiro and youngster Toby Collyer.

Second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir gets a rare outing at home to a lower-league side, to give Andre Onana the night off with Tom Heaton in reserve.

Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez all came off against Southampton, but Ten Hag confirmed that the defensive trio were “all available”. All three are on the bench this evening.

Christian Eriksen also starts, while there is no rest for Marcus Rashford as he leads the attack after scoring his first goal of the season at Southampton at the weekend.

Luke Shaw remains on the sidelines but is progressing in his recovery, while Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Leny Yoro, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund are all still out.

Manchester United XI: Bayindir, Dalot, Maguire, Evans, Casemiro, Collyer, Ugarte, Eriksen, Antony, Garnacho, Rashford

Subs: Heaton, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui, Fernandes, Mainoo, Amad, Wheatley, Zirkzee

Injured: Yoro, Malacia, Mount, Lindelof, Shaw, Hojlund
