Manchester United told why Harry Maguire won't suit Erik ten Hag's system after England display

Harry Maguire's poor form continued while playing for England on Tuesday and Manchester United fans are concerned about his suitability for an Erik ten Hag team.

Although England managed to scrape a draw against Germany in their second Nations League match through a late Harry Kane penalty, it was a tired performance from Gareth Southgate's side as a number of players put in subpar displays. United captain Maguire had another difficult match.

The centre-back has endured a tough season after his form fell off a cliff following his heroics with the Three Lions at Euro 2020, with his captaincy of the team even coming into question. The trend continued in Munich as Maguire once again struggled, with United supporters being left worried about how he would cope in a Ten Hag side.

United have appointed the Dutchman as their next permanent manager and they have done so knowing the type of exciting, attacking football he likes his sides to play. One aspect of his style is deploying a high defensive line in order to put pressure on his opponents and it's something that Maguire struggled in against Germany.

In the first-half Maguire attempted to win a high ball but lost out in embarrassing fashion to Kai Havertz as he was left in a heap on the floor and Jonas Hofmann sprinted through to score. To his relief, the goal was disallowed for offside.

Unfortunately for Maguire, he would go on to make another mistake for Hofmann to score and the assistant's flag didn't save him a second time. While England's defence was trying to hold its line, the United man stepped out of it leaving a massive gap for Hofmann to ghost through and fire past Jordan Pickford.

The mistakes haven't gone unnoticed by United supporters who are hoping that Ten Hag was also paying close attention.
