Manchester United takeover latest as Sir Jim Ratcliffe meets Erik ten Hag

The race to takeover Manchester United has started to begin this week as prospective bidders arrive in the city to meet club officials.

On Thursday the Qatar team, which is headed by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, visited Old Trafford where they received a presentation on United. And Friday was the turn of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group.

Ratcliffe was flanked by British Cycling chief Sir Dave Brailsford, who is reportedly set to be given a hands-on role to turnaround United's fortunes. Below is everything you need to know on the latest from the United takeover.

Ratcliffe arrives at Old Trafford for takeover talks

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has visited Old Trafford for talks over a possible Manchester United takeover. The Failsworth-born billionaire, who submitted a bid to buy the club in February, was pictured arriving at the stadium on Friday morning and was greeted by United chief executive Richard Arnold.

Ratcliffe and Arnold shook hands before entering through the same entrance that the players use on matchdays, situated on the corner of the stadium between the Stretford End and the Sir Bobby Charlton stand. Ratcliffe, the founder and chairman of the INEOS chemicals group, is one of two parties to have firmed up their interest in buying United with a concrete bid.

Brailsford arrives for takeover talks

Sir Dave Brailsford was with Ratcliffe at Old Trafford on Friday morning as the INEOS founder met Manchester United officials for takeover talks.

Qatari delegates were in Manchester for talks on the behalf of Sheikh Jassim on Thursday and it was the turn of Ratcliffe's team to visit on Friday. Both Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim submitted bids in February, and talks over a potential takeover have moved into the next stage with both parties.

Ratcliffe meets Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag met Ratcliffe on Friday morning as the Manchester-born businessman visited Carrington during talks over his bid to buy the club. The Ineos boss was at Old Trafford early in the morning for talks with United figures, including chief executive Richard Arnold, before heading to Carrington for a tour of the training ground.

Ten Hag was at Carrington before holding his press conference to preview the Fulham game and he was introduced to Ratcliffe at the training ground.
