Manchester United have reportedly told Villarreal they are willing to part with €50m (£42m) for Pau Torres.
The defender is said to be one of the club’s top targets with eyes also on Ajax centre-half Jurrien Timber. Villarreal managed to keep hold of their player last year but Marca suggests that Torres now wants a move away, possibly to the Premier League.
United are frontrunners for the Spaniard, who helped Villarreal to victory over the Old Trafford outfit in last year’s Europa League final. Erik ten Hag is keen on Torres who is deemed to fit into his style of play.

Now, Marca reports that United have told Villarreal how much they value the defender at. The Spanish club, who failed to qualify for next year’s Europa League, are expected to be tough negotiators with a number of players expected to leave after their Champions League run to the semi-finals this term.
Elsewhere, CBS Sports reports Lille striker Jonathan David is one player ten Hag is considering a move for. The Ligue 1 winner scored 19 goals this season and may look to leave his employers after their tenth-placed finish.
Benfica striker Darwin Nunez joins David on ten Hag’s shortlist ahead of an expected summer overhaul at United. The Canadian had been linked with a move to Arsenal but talks are said to have ceased a while ago, while Liverpool remain interested.
