Manchester United start transfer talks for Nottingham Forest target

Manchester United are reportedly discussing Nottingham Forest transfer target Cody Gakpo "internally" over a possible move this summer.

The PSV winger has been the source of speculation this summer after having an impressive campaign in the Netherlands last season. Gakpo scored 12 and provided another 13 assists in Eredivisie and registered another two assists in their opening victory over FC Emmen.

A transfer fee of £30 million could reportedly be enough to prise the 23-year-old away from the Dutch side. Steve Cooper's side have been credited with interest in the player, with Man United, Arsenal and Leeds United also all keen.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on United's interest in Gakpo. According to the journalist, Erik ten Hag's side are discussing the winger "internally" over a summer move. The Red Devils have been rumoured to be in the market for another wide player to add to their squad, with Ajax's Anthony one player linked.

He tweeted: "Manchester United are discussing Cody Gakpo internally, he'd love PL move - while talks are still ongoing with Adrien Rabiot's camp. €17m fee already agreed with Juventus.

"Gakpo's one of the names in the list alongside priority target Anthony - no official bed yet."

Forest are the only team who have made an official move for the forward, but the pull of European football at Old Trafford could be enough to swing the move United's way.
