Manchester United have signed Republic of Ireland international Diane Caldwell until the end of season.
The 33-year-old makes her first move to the Women's Super League after a career spent largely on the continent and in the US.
The Balbriggan native - who has won 84 caps for Ireland, and recently scored in their 11-0 World Cup Qualifier demolition of Georgia - spent 2021 in the NWSL with the North Carolina Courage, alongside fellow Ireland international Denise O'Sullivan.
However, a disappointing campaign saw Caldwell make just seven appearances for the turmoil-hit club, as they finished sixth in the regular season standings and were eliminated at the first stage of the playoffs.
The lifelong United fan joins a side who currently sit third in the WSL, just two points off table-topping Arsenal, and who have won their last six on the bounce.
"Today is one of the most special moments in my life so far," she said.
"As a lifelong United fan, it’s a dream to sign for the club and it’s a big moment for me and my family.
"I’m so grateful to be here and will wear the badge with so much pride.
"The team are in great form, playing attractive football, and Marc is doing a fantastic job; I just can’t wait to meet everyone and get straight down to business on the pitch."
United manager Marc Skinner added: "She has great composure and versatility, and I have no doubt that she will be a fantastic asset to the team during her time here.
"Diane is also a great character.
"I always talk about having the right people in our environment, and she is the ultimate professional who possesses those important traits and leadership skills which will help continue to develop the incredible team spirit within this group."
