Manchester United set Scott McTominay asking price and other transfer rumours

Manchester United will demand £25million for Scott McTominay should potential suitors come calling for the Scotland international next summer, according to reports.

McTominay, 26, was repeatedly linked with Newcastle throughout the January transfer window as United opted to hang onto the central midfielder. However, as Erik ten Hag continues his rebuild it has been suggested the Old Trafford giants are ready to cash in on their academy graduate.

Reports from Football Insider indicate United will only allow McTominay to leave next summer if they receive an offer above £25million for his services. The same article claims United have yet to make the final decision on the player, though, seemingly leaving the door open for him to stay.

McTominay has slipped below Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Fred in the midfield pecking order this season, while Marcel Sabitzer was signed on loan from Bayern Munich when it became evident that Eriksen would be out injured for three months due to an ankle problem. McTominay is under contract with United until 2025 and has made 195 appearances for the club since being handed a debut in 2017.

Elsewhere, reports from the same publication - Football Insider - indicate Rangers are ready to move for Jack Butland when his Crystal Palace contract expires in the summer. Butland, 29, was among three mid-season loan signings made by United manager Ten Hag during the January transfer window.

As things stand, Butland is due to return to Crystal Palace when that temporary agreement ends, but the club have no plans to extend his contract. It has put Rangers on red alert as they target a new goalkeeper to add to their options for next season and provide competition for veteran shot-stopper Allan McGregor, 41.
