Manchester United sent new Sofyan Amrabat transfer warning as Deadline Day battle looms

Manchester United have been warned that they are not the only club chasing a late deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Morocco international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer transfer window, though so far Erik ten Hag has prioritised the signings of the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dutchman has also had a left-back crisis to address with Luke Shaw joining deputy Tyrell Malacia on the sidelines, with Tottenham outcast Sergio Reguilon set to join on loan.

Now Amrabat is the centre of United’s focus on Deadline Day, with negotiations believed to be ongoing.

Fiorentina were said to have been frustrated by a reported €2million loan offer from the Red Devils, aware of their Financial Fair Play (FFP) responsibilities, that is said to have included two €1m instalments and a January break clause.

Talks are continuing, with the Serie A side reportedly willing to loan out Amrabat - but only if the deal contains an obligation to buy the player on a permanent basis next summer.

The 27-year-old is said to be very keen on a switch to Old Trafford, having not trained with Fiorentina or played in any of their four matches across all competitions so far this season - absent again from Vincenzo Italiano’s matchday squad for a 2-0 Europa Conference League play-off win over Austrian side Rapid Vienna at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday night.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are among the other clubs to be linked with a swoop for Amrabat, while other reports claim that Fulham have submitted a €30m bid for the player as they scramble to replace midfield talisman Joao Palhinha, who wants to join Bayern Munich on Deadline Day. The Cottagers have also opened talks over Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who was offered to United recently too.

And Fiorentina chief Rocco Commisso has warned that United are far from the only suitors for Amarabat with time running out to secure a deal.

“There are other clubs for Amrabat too,” he said after the win over Vienna on Thursday, per Football Italia. “I cannot give an answer right now, because not even I know what will happen tomorrow. We told Amrabat that if he has an opportunity to leave, then we’ll let him go.

“If this deal cannot be done, then he has two years left on his contract and will remain.

“There are many negotiations in progress. I don’t want to name names. So wait 24 hours and then you’ll know what happens.”
