Manchester United's Scott McTominay shows off new and improved physique ahead of pre-season

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has taken to Instagram to show off his new and improved physique ahead of pre-season training getting under way next week.

United's players will start to report back to the club's Carrington training base on Monday ahead of flying out to Thailand for the start of their pre-season tour on July 8. United will face Liverpool in Bangkok before continuing their journey to Australia for further fixtures against Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Although United aren't, as things stand, poised to be joined on their pre-season tour by a wealth of new signings, the players that manager Erik ten Hag already has at his disposal will be doing their very best to try and grab his attention ahead of the regular season kicking-off on August 7. No shortage of names will have plans to impress the Dutchman over pre-season, with the slate set to be wiped clean.

Ten Hag, although he has not yet held his first training session as United manager, appears to have told his players to hit the gym during the off-season. That is because McTominay has followed in the footsteps of teammate Axel Tuanzebe by showing off his new look.

The Scotland international, who racked up 37 appearances last term, scoring two goals, has uploaded an image of himself ahead of a late-night gym session. The midfielder is standing topless showing off his new physique, which suggests he has spent plenty of time building up his physicality in recent weeks.

He also shared another image of himself in the gym continuing to work hard. It is clear that he hopes to retain his place in Ten Hag's plans moving forward.
