Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka receives fresh England snub after Gareth Southgate decision

Gareth Southgate has named Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters in England's squad over Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The international break has now begun and England will play Switzerland and the Ivory Coast over the next two weeks in friendly fixtures. Manchester United had just two representatives, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, named in the Three Lions' squad announcement last week, but manager Southgate has now been forced into making changes due to injuries.

Reece James, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tammy Abraham and Aaron Ramsdale all officially withdrew from the squad on Monday evening. Walker-Peters, Tyrick Mitchell, Ollie Watkins and Sam Johnstone replaced the four outgoing players.

Southgate lost two right-backs, James and Alexander-Arnold, from his squad and named Walker-Peters in the side instead.

Walker-Peters' inclusion suggests Wan-Bissaka is significantly down the pecking order in Southgate's plans, with strength in depth at right-back, and this latest snub is a fresh blow for Wan-Bissaka, who is yet to be handed his full international debut.

Wan-Bissaka received his first and only England call-up back in August 2019 but he had to withdraw due to an injury. Although United signed Wan-Bissaka for £50m, interim boss Ralf Rangnick has regularly played Diogo Dalot this season.
