Manchester United 'remain in pursuit' of Jeremie Frimpong and more transfer rumours

Manchester United reportedly remain keen on a move for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, with the Reds thought to be in with a good chance of signing the defender.

As reported by Bild, Frimpong is now being 'hotly courted' by United as Erik ten Hag looks to add a new right-back to his squad. The club's current options are Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, but the former struggled for minutes in the first half of the season and the latter had been sidelined with an injury before his return vs Leeds.

It remains to be see if Wan-Bissaka will be at the club next season, but the 25-year-old has been linked with a move away. Meanwhile, Frimpong - who is a former Manchester City academy player - was touted as a potential option for United back in October, and reports claim that he remains on the club's shortlist.

The 22-year-old full-back has made 72 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit since joining the club from Celtic, including 25 so far this term. He has registered five goals and three assists this season and has impressed in an underperforming Leverkusen side.

Elsewhere, Nacional have reported that United are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde in the summer transfer window - stating that the Reds are contemplating submitting a bid for the Uruguayan.

The 24-year-old was tentatively linked with a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool last summer, but the report claims that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez never considered selling the player. He has made 180 appearances for the Spanish giants and has won seven trophies.

Valverde has registered nine goals and four assists in 32 appearances so far this season. However, his form has dipped since the World Cup, with Madrid also falling behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race.
