Manchester United could be handed a boost in the pursuit of Erling Haaland as Real Madrid have reportedly pulled out of the race.
The 21-year-old is one of the hottest properties in Europe, with the Reds among a whole host of clubs looking to pin down the talisman as his contract ticks down amid a reported £68m release clause which is due to become active in the summer.
But the Daily Star, via the Express, says Carlo Ancelotti's side are no longer one of the clubs vying for the forward's signature.
The report says that in bringing the Norwegian to the Bernabeu, it would cost an overall £300m, a sum that Los Blancos can't afford and they will look to pursue the avenue of Kylian Mbappe instead.
Mbappe, 23, will be available on a free transfer in the summer after failing to negotiate an extension with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
The Star continues to say the Reds, as well as rivals Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, have been made aware of the decision to pull out of a move by his agent, Mino Raiola.
Elsewhere, Brazilian news outlet UOL are reporting that Flamengo sent representatives to London this weekend to verbally agree with the Reds to buy 75 per cent of Andreas Pereira's 'economic rights'.
The move would see Pereira's loan spell in Brazil become permanent after his temporary switch in the summer.
And the report says that the fee could rise to €14m, with a good amount being paid with the rest in individual and collective add-ons.
