The Manchester United squad cut a series of glum and dejected figures as they arrived at the club's Carrington training base on Wednesday, the morning after the night before.
There were similar faces at the end of the 4-0 hammering by Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, as Jurgen Klopp's side cruised to a second comfortable win over United this season. Mo Salah's brace and goals from Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane consigned United to another embarrassment, after which they received the wrath of pundits and fans.
Ralf Rangnick must now regroup his squad for their weekend game against Arsenal, which could still prove crucial in the battle for the top four. United take on the Gunners — who are in action against Chelsea tonight (Wednesday) — at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo was back at the training ground, having missed the Liverpool game on compassionate grounds following the tragic death of his baby son. United and Liverpool fans came together in the seventh minute at Anfield for a minute's applause to show support for Ronaldo and his family.
He is expected to be available for the Arsenal game on Saturday, while midfielder Fred was also pictured by MEN photographers arriving at Carrington. The Brazilian missed the Norwich and Liverpool games after hobbling off against Everton with injury, but is recovering.
United also have Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani, and Luke Shaw on the treatment table. Paul Pogba went off injured at Liverpool and may have played his final game for the club with his contract up for expiry in June.
Harry Maguire was another player snapped driving into the training complex after another poor showing in the United defence against Liverpool. Maguire has come in for heavy criticism of late, though defended himself before the Anfield trip, claiming: "There's a reason why both managers have put me in the starting 11 every game."
It has been another turbulent week at United, with Rangnick admitting the scale of the club's rebuild in the summer will be huge. The interim boss said as many as 10 players could be signed, with Erik ten Hag expected to be confirmed as the club's next permanent manager in the coming weeks. Rangnick is set to move into a football consultancy position at the end of the season.
