Manchester United player ratings: Lisandro Martinez good and Alejandro Garnacho brilliant vs Fulham

David de Gea

Made a good save from a deflected effort at 0-0 and denied Carlos Vinicius and Tim Ream before being beaten by Daniel James. 7

Tyrell Malacia

Looked as uncomfortable as you might expect a left-back playing at right-back to look and was out of the picture for Daniel James's equaliser. 4

Victor Lindelof

Vindicated his selection at centre-back over Harry Maguire and defended respectfully amid some testing onslaughts in each half. 6

Lisandro Martinez

United's best player again. Defended stoutly and used the ball calmly, unlike most of his teammates amid Fulham's pressing. 8

Luke Shaw

Bright in the attacking third and should have had an assist for a cross Anthony Martial nodded onto the roof of the net. 7

Casemiro

Converted defence into attack for the move Eriksen scored from and solid in front of the back four but had little respite from United's forwards. 7

Christian Eriksen

Scored his first United goal to put them 1-0 up and should have got another just before the interval that proved to be crucial. But then he assisted Garnacho. 7

Anthony Elanga

Possibly selected to defend more than attack as Malacia was behind him and showed no conviction with the chance he had early in the second-half. Came off shortly thereafter. 5

Bruno Fernandes

Back in his best role and back to his best in the first-half, though there was an element of fortune with his deflected shot that Eriksen converted. Meekly surrendered the ball for Fulham's equaliser. 5

Marcus Rashford

Erratic back in his best position on the left-hand side and prone to running down blind alleys when United needed to be more considerate on the ball. 5

Anthony Martial

As effective as he has been in his handful of appearances, there is scant evidence Martial is a dependable frontman and he wasted presentable chances. 6

Subs

Scott McTominay

A curious substitute at a curious time, he came on as a 10 and dropped back. The wrong change at the wrong time. 4

Alejandro Garnacho

Lively and linked up with Eriksen to get the winning goal. 8

Manager

Malacia at right-back was a necessary risk United rode out but the entrance of McTominay was the wrong substitution at the wrong time and it backfired but then Garnacho came on and won the game. 7
